About the studio
A software studio in Kuala Lumpur.
Small by design, and measured by what is running in production rather than what is in the pipeline.
Hourglass Technology is a Malaysia-based software studio, registered with the Suruhanjaya Syarikat Malaysia (SSM) and operating out of Kuala Lumpur. It is founded and run by a solo engineer, and it builds production software for businesses that need a system to run on — not a deck, not a pilot.
The work covers multi-tenant SaaS products, point-of-sale and ERP systems, customer-facing ordering platforms, and the automation that ties them to the tools a business already uses. In practice that has meant a clinic platform carrying patients from queue number to billing, a restaurant ERP running a live floor during service, and an ordering site taking orders for a Bangsar kitchen.
The studio also builds its own products. Luferion is the flagship — developed and operated in-house rather than for a client, and the place where new engineering patterns get proven before they reach a client system.
Being a one-person studio sets a real limit on how many projects can run at once, and that limit is treated as a feature. Fewer clients means each one gets the engineer directly, and nothing ships that nobody on the team fully understands.

You talk to the engineer
There is no account manager between the brief and the build. The person who scopes the work is the person who writes it, which means requirements do not degrade as they pass down a chain, and questions get answered the same day.

Built for the busiest hour
A clinic at 9am and a restaurant at 8pm are the conditions that matter. Interfaces are designed for staff who cannot stop to think about software, and the systems are tested against the load they will actually see, not a calm demo.

Production, not prototypes
Every live project on this site is handling real operations for a real business. That is the bar: something the owner opens every morning and depends on, with the deployment, backups and support that implies.

Scope stays honest
Work in development is labelled as such, here and everywhere else on this site. If something is not built yet, it is not described as though it is — which is also how estimates and timelines get handled.
